Green lentil thoran

Green lentils 1 cup
White onion 1 small, chopped
Green chilly 1-2 no, slit
Grated coconut ½ cup
Cumin seeds ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Dry red chilly 2-3 nos
Salt as needed
Oil 1 TSP

Preparation

Wash the lentils well and cook this with 1 cups water at medium heat until soft. Now Heat a pan at medium heat and splutter mustard seeds followed by dry red chilly. Next add the chopped onions and cook till they are translucent.

Meanwhile using a blender, coarsely grind the grated coconut, green chilly and cumin seeds. Set aside.

Once the onions turn soft, add turmeric powder, mix well and add the ground paste. Cook this for a few minutes. Adjust salt and turn off from stove. Serve warm with rice and sambar..
