Tilapia in creamy milk sauce

I was craving for fish the other day but didnt want to have the usual Kerala style fish curry that I always make. This curry was a trial I did and it came out really good. The delicate tilapia in a rich masala milk sauce..Sounds great, right? I guarantee friends tastes great too Smile…Enjoy!!!

Tilapia fillets 1 no
Red onions 1 small, chopped
Ginger 1 TBSP, chopped
Garlic 2 pods, chopped
Green chilly 1 no, chopped
Curry leaves a few
Kashmiri chilly powder ½ tsp
Coriander powder ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Black pepper powder ¼ tsp
Garam masala ½ tsp
Fenugreek powder a pinch
Kasoori methi ½ tsp
Milk ½ cup
Tomato 1 small, chopped
Salt as needed
Oil 1-2 tsp


Using a mortar and pestle crush together, ginger, garlic, green chilly, curry leaves and onions.

Heat oil in a frying pan and sauté the crushed mixture for about 10 minutes at medium heat. Next add the chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, garam masala, fenugreek powder and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Now add the chopped tomatoes and cook till oil separates. Now add the milk and combine well. Add the kasoori methi and slide in the fish fillet and cover with the milk mixture. Cook this on a low flame until all the moisture dries up and the fish is coated well with the masala.

Saute crushed onions, ginger, garlic, green chilly and curry leaves

Add powders and tomato and cook till oil separates

Add milk and kasoori methi






Slide in Tilapia

Cover the fish with the milk mixture

Cook until everything is combined and fish is well coated with the masala
