Friends, here is a simple and quick peas pulav which is perfect for dinner, lunch or to go boxes. Hope y’lll enjoy!!
Basmati rice 2 cups, washed and soaked for 15 minutes
Green peas 1 cup (frozen)
White onion 1 small, thinly sliced or chopped
Ginger 1 inch piece, chopped
Garlic 1 pod, chopped
Mint leaves 2 TBSP, chopped
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Garam masala ½ tsp
Fennel seeds ¼ tsp
Oil/Butter 2 tsp
Salt as needed
Water enough to cook rice
Wash and soak the rice for 15-20 minutes
Heat a deep bottomed pan at medium high, and sauté onions, ginger, garlic and fennel seeds for 2-3 minutes. Reduce flame to medium and add the turmeric powder, garam masala and mint leaves. Cook this for 2 more minutes. Now add the green peas and salt, mix well and add rice. Add 3 ½ to 4 cups of water. Mix and cook covered for 15 minutes, giving occasional stirs or until 90% of water get evaporated. Switch off stove and fluff rice using a fork. Enjoy with raita or any curries of your choice.
