Wheat rava upma (Serves 4)

Wheat rava upma

Wheat rava 1 ½ cup (you can also use the bulgur wheat)
Onion 1 medium, finely chopped
Green chilly 2 nos, finely chopped (I used Serrano)
Ginger 1’ piece, chopped
Carrot 2 nos, finely chopped
Frozen green peas ½ cup
Grated coconut ½ - ¾ cup
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Mustard seeds ½ tsp
Oil 1 TBSP
Salt to season
Water 3 cups

Preparation

In a deep bottomed pan, add oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add the onions, ginger, green chilly, carrots and green peas into the pan and sauté for 5 minutes at medium heat. Season with salt and add turmeric powder. Mix well and add the wheat rava and stir continuously for 5 minutes. Now add 3 cups water and cook till dry. Lastly add the grated coconut, mix and remove from flame. Serve warm with pappad and pickle or curries like kadala curry, green peas curry.
